Thorsten Herdan

Dipl.-Ing. Thorsten Herdan has been appointed CEO of HIF EMEA since May 12, 2022. HIF Global is the world’s leading eFuels company. From June 2014 to May 2022, he was Head of Department II “Energy Policy – Heat and Efficiency” at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Previously, he was Managing Director of the Power Systems (PS) and Engines and Systems (MuS) trade associations in the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), Managing Director of the Research Association for Combustion Engines (FVV) and, as Managing Director of Forum Energie, was responsible for the VDMA’s energy policy. Mr. Herdan was also a member of the board of the European Association of Internal Combustion Engine Manufacturers (EUROMOT), was a board member and member of the supervisory board of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) and vice president of the Offshore Wind Energy Foundation. Furthermore, Mr. Herdan has been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nuclear Waste Disposal Fund since 9 March 2017.
