Mark Helfrich was born on September 8, 1978 in Itzehoe and has been a directly elected member of the German Bundestag for the Steinburg – Dithmarschen Süd constituency since October 2013.
After graduating from Auguste Viktoria School in Itzehoe in 1999, he studied business administration in Göttingen. His first job after graduating took him to Düsseldorf in 2004 to work in the corporate audit department of the long-established Italian company Barilla. Helfrich returned to Schleswig-Holstein in 2005. In the north, he took on various commercial roles in the energy industry from 2005; his last position was as assistant to the management at the former Hamburg Netz GmbH.
When Mark Helfrich returned to the Bundestag in September 2017, he moved from the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs, where he had previously focused on specialist policy, to the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy. His main areas of focus here include all aspects of the energy transition and climate protection. Mark Helfrich is also a full member of the Committee on European Union Affairs, where he is responsible for European energy and climate policy as rapporteur for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group.
The H2 National Summit will take place on May 8, 2025 at the Hotel Hafen Hamburg. It offers an excellent platform for an exchange between leading managers from the hydrogen and offshore wind energy industry, scientists and political decision-makers on the implementation of the National Hydrogen Strategy.
