Dr. Kirsten Westphal is a member of the Executive Board of BDEW and an external expert for the “Geopolitics of Hydrogen” project at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs. Prior to this, she was a board member of the H2Global Foundation, where she was responsible for independent analysis and research. Kirsten Westphal is a member of the National Hydrogen Council.
Kirsten Westphal worked at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) between 2008-2021. Among other things, she headed the “Geopolitics of Energy Transformation – Hydrogen” project funded by the Federal Foreign Office, to which she is now an external consultant. She served as a member of the expert panel of the Global Commission on the Geopolitics of Energy Transformation 2018-2019. She holds a doctorate in political science and was a research assistant at Justus Liebig University Giessen and at the Instituto de Relaciones Europeo-Latinoamericanas (IRELA), Madrid. Prior to this, she was an employee of PreussenElektra AG.
The H2 National Summit will take place on May 8, 2025 at the Hotel Hafen Hamburg. It offers an excellent platform for an exchange between leading managers from the hydrogen and offshore wind energy industry, scientists and political decision-makers on the implementation of the National Hydrogen Strategy.
