
Dr. Axel Bree studied law in Cologne (Germany) and Washington DC (US). He then completed his doctorate at the University of Göttingen. After several years in a private law firm, he joined the German Federal Ministry of Economics in 2002. Between 2005 and 2010, he worked in the Federal Chancellery and at the German Embassy in Washington DC. He also worked for the World Future Council in London (UK). Since 2016, he has been Head of the Division for Industrial Policy Aspects of Energy Supply at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, where he is responsible for the IPCEI Hydrogen and the Carbon Contracts for Difference. Since March 2024, he has been Deputy Director General for Hydrogen Ramp-up and Energy Research.
